We’re absolutely over the moon to announce the arrival of our brand-new double-decker catamaran — the latest and most impressive addition to the Serenity Farne Island Boat Tours fleet.
Built by Stuart and his fantastic team at Blyth Catamarans in Canvey Island, Essex, this beautiful vessel is the result of months of craftsmanship and hard work. My brother and his friend made the long journey south to bring her home — and what an adventure that turned out to be!

The Voyage North
The trip started down on the Hadleigh Ray Estuary into the Thames Estuary, easing the new boat out from the yard at Canvey Island where she’d been built. It’s always a special feeling seeing a new boat touch open water for the first time, and this one didn’t disappoint. As they left the estuary and headed into open sea, the conditions quickly turned lively — with rough water and heavy seas testing both boat and crew.
She handled it beautifully. The hull cut through the swell with ease, a real testament to the design and build quality of Blyth Catamarans.
They made their first stop at Lowestoft to take on fuel and rest before continuing the long run north. From there, it was a case of pushing on up the coast, the sea chasing up the stern most of the way, making for a proper seafaring adventure. Timing was everything — they arrived back at Seahouses just after low water and waited about an hour before, catching enough water to get into the harbour. Talk about good timing!
First Impressions
My brother was immediately impressed with how she performed — but also with the new layout compared to Serenity IV. There are some subtle but brilliant differences:
-
Doors on the passenger shelter to stop the wind whistling through — a small touch that will make a big difference for comfort on those breezier Farne days.
-
A slightly lower wheelhouse and a straight staircase to the top deck.
-
Thoughtful interior adjustments to make passenger movement smoother and more sheltered when needed.
Overall, he couldn’t have been happier with how the boat felt and performed. She’s solid, stable, and just as graceful as we’d hoped.
A Full-Circle Moment
This new vessel feels particularly special because we were the very first company to have a Blyth Catamaran built for us, with Serenity II many years ago (our original order helped kickstart their passenger vessel line). Now, all these years later, we’re proud to say we own the largest fleet of Blyth Catamarans in the UK. That’s something we’re immensely proud of.
Working with Stuart and his team has been a pleasure from start to finish. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and passion for what they do really shines through in every inch of this boat. If anyone out there is thinking about getting a passenger vessel or workboat built, I can’t recommend them enough — truly top-class builders.

Looking Ahead
With this latest addition, we’re ready to start a brand-new chapter for Serenity. The new double-decker catamaran means more room, smoother rides, and even better experiences for our passengers. Whether it’s school trips, wildlife tours, or relaxed cruises around the islands, this boat will help us deliver it all in comfort and style.
We can’t wait to get her out on the water and share her with everyone this coming season.
She’s finally here — and she’s an absolute beauty.
See you on the water
