Staple Island

Please note, this trip is not currently available to book due to National Trust restrictions.

This tour sails around all of the Farne Islands then lands on the amazing wildlife habitat of Staple Island.

Staple Island has dramatic views across all the Islands and is known for its vast seabird colonies, especially those of the Auk family such as Guillemots, Razorbills, and Puffins. Puffins are the numerous birds that nest on the Farnes with over 20,000 pairs nesting on Staple Island alone!

A boardwalk over the top of the Island takes you straight through the nesting Puffins and this is where you can get close to some of Britain’s most spectacular breeding seabirds and the iconic dolerite pinnacles.

This is a very rugged island so please remember to wear good shoes as its uneven underfoot. It’s not suitable for infants.

Birds on the Farne Islands are currently being monitored for avian influenza by the National Trust. Customers will be notified in advance if Staple Island is closed during their planned visit and alternatives offered.
