I use Serenity Farne Islands Tours exclusively for my Farnes wildlife photography workshops and for my own visits too. Skippers Andrew & Toby, plus their crew have become good friends of mine over the years and it’s always a pleasure to step on board whichever of the Serenity boats I am using. Andrew and Toby are incredibly attentive to their guests and always more than happy to go that extra mile to help us get the best photographs we can. Andrew is a keen photographer himself so he knows exactly how we think! Importantly their wildlife knowledge and spotting skills are up to scratch too, they aren’t just skippers and crew!

By far the best boat and skipper out of Seahouses (in my opinion)

This was a fantastic trip and we really enjoyed ourselves. The islands themselves and the resident birds are stunning and made even more fascinating with the excellent, friendly and knowledgeable commentary from the boats skipper, Andrew. We were lucky enough to go on a hot summers day and had great up-close views of the nesting birds from the still waters…

We have been to the Farne Islands on many occasions but this was the first on Serenity. The boat is very comfortable and the crew went out of their way to get us as close to the seabirds as possible. It was clear that they were very interested in the wildlife and wanted to share their knowledge with everyone. Our visit coincided with the time when young guillemots (jumplings) leave the cliffs for the first time. Because the crew knew what they were looking for, we were able to see one jumpling successfully make it to the sea! A brilliant trip because of a brilliant crew.

My wife and I have visited the Farne Islands on several occasions to photograph the many birds there. on this occasion, we were planning a trip for the benefit of my 87 year old mum who is wheelchair – bound and who had never visited Northumberland before. I emailed the two main Farne Island operators at Seahouses to enquire if their vessels could cater for wheelchair users.I had a response from Andrew at Serenity Boats within hours of making the enquiry, confirming their ability to take wheelchairs at certain tide times, so the vessel was at the appropriate height on the quayside. Andrew asked for our holiday dates and then provided the tide times and most suitable times to take a trip. This is the first time that I have travelled on Serenity II and the experience was first class. On this occasion the weather was excellent, Andrew the skipper and his colleague lifted my mum onboard with no problem and the catamaran was skilfully steered very close to the cliffs by Andrew, providing excellent opportunities to see and photograph the birds and seals. Result one very enjoyable trip and a very happy 87 year old mum!! Many thanks Andrew!! (P.S. responses to my email from the other operator followed some 4 weeks later!!)
