We have been waiting for a long time now but finally, the harbour has been given the go-ahead to get some desperately needed improvements and the piers will be fixed before its too late and we don’t have a harbour at all.

Yes, it’s going to be a pain in the rear end as we have lost our parking along the pier which is a big loss for the harbour and this will be a real pain for the scuba divers too. The main reason for that is if the tide is out they will have the wheelbarrow all their gear along the pier before they even start diving and it will be even worse if they get back and the tide is out.

Yes, it’s going to be a pain but I would rather have this all summer than for it to fall down as that would be disastrous. Seahouses is the gateway to the Farne islands so the last thing we want is for the harbour walls to fall down as that would mean the finish of Serenity and other boats to the islands. I can’t even think about that to be honest.

Anyway, it’s going to take up until November for it to be finished and hopefully, the final product will last for many years to come. We are also hoping to get another pickup and drop off point which will be great at low tides as it will ease the ques at the harbour entrance vastly. My fingers and toes will be tightly crossed that something will get the go-ahead to do this as it can be dreadful at times. Anything will be an improvement on what we have now.

Anyway if you are visiting the area please give yourself enough time to get parked as its becoming a nightmare for people at the moment and the last thing you want to do is miss the boat.

Here are a few pictures of what’s going on and I will keep you updated on their progress and hopefully, it will be a great finish for everyone using the harbour. As you can see by some of the pictures how bad the pier walls really are.
