Farnes Update 2021

It’s great to be back on the water, and nearly all the seabirds are back now. Unfortunately, we are not landing on the islands, but we can still get close to all the seabirds and seals which is a real pleasure.

It’s been a slow start to the season, but I’m not really surprised as things are still not open and people are still getting the covid jab. and I think once everyone is a bit more relaxed with everything then things we will be okay.

All the seabirds are back and lots of them are on eggs now so it will not be long before we start to see some chicks again. I can’t believe it’s June now and it will not be long before the breeding season is over. It’s really scary how quickly it’s flying by and this is why we should enjoy every minute of ours lives.

Anyway, I will report as soon as possible with some more updates over the rest of the season but for now, here are a few pictures for you.

  1. We went to Seahouses just to see puffins about 4 years ago. When we landed on the island I couldn’t see one puffin and I asked the guide “are there any puffins here?” and she said they were over the hill. Well, what an incredible sight! Thousands and thousands of these delightful birds, a trip I shall never forget.
